At the beginning of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, there were only 13 small machinery sailing ships which shipping capacity is 1000 tons and the yearly shipping capacity 42504 tons. After twenty year’s development, Shenzhen Port terminal provides 15 kilometers of waterfrontage and 120 berths. So far, some 33 shipping companies and some 190 operation ships have registered in Shenzhen, among which 23 international renowned shipping consortia have launched approximately 80 ocean container regular shipping liner routes, and the liners calling on Shenzhen Port are averagely 138 to the areas of America, Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia and Japan, etc. In 1999, Shenzhen leaped to the 11th container port in the world with its throughput of 2.986 million TEUs, arousing the attention from both at home and abroad.
