Port Events in 2003
1. April 12, Hu Jintao, General Secretary, inspected Shenzhen Yantian International Terminal, accompanied by Zhang Dejiang, Secretary of Guangdong Province, Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province, and Huang Liman, Secretary of Shenzhen City.
2. July 22, the meeting to study and spread Port Decree of the People¡¯s Republic of China was held in Shenzhen. The people in Shenzhen Port and shipping circle learn the Port Decree seriously, declaring the opening of port administration abide by the law.
3. The annual throughput of Shenzhen Port broke through 10 million TEUs and ranked top 4 over the world container ports.
4. The annual cargo throughput of Shenzhen Port broke through 100 million tons and was classified as the big port.
5. The infrastructure of Shenzhen Port gained unprecedented development as four container berths and three multi-purpose berths were completed to use, bringing two million more handling capacity.

9. On Aug 3, the Panama Yishi caught fire in the area of Dapeng Bay. With the joint help both from Shenzhen and Hongkong, the fire went out but leaving us the alertness and inspiration.
10. On Dec 3, the first Chinese Port Economy Forum was held in Shenzhen. Over 30 famous economists including Yu Guangyuan, Liu Guoguang and Wu Jinlian and the elites in port and shipping industry attended this forum. With the title of Economy Globlization and the Chance and Challenge in the Development of Chinese Port Industry, all attendants participated the discuss.
